How can Area on Aging / Adult Protective Services Help our Alzheimer’s / Dementia Population?

Area Agency on Aging

The Area Agency on Aging Serving Southwest Idaho (AAA) provides leadership, advocacy, planning coordination, and evaluation for all aging services in the ten counties of Southwest Idaho. The AAA designs, develops, and maintains comprehensive, coordinated, community-based senior services for which assist older individuals in leading independent, meaningful, and dignified lives.

Adult Protection personnel investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or self-neglect involving a “vulnerable adult.” A “vulnerable adult” is a person eighteen years of age or older who is unable to make decisions and otherwise manage his affairs or to protect himself from abuse, neglect or exploitation due to a physical and/or mental impairment. Age itself does not constitute vulnerability; there must also be a limiting physical or cognitive impairment. For the Adult Protection Web Site go to adultprotect.idahocog.com.
